Today is a very exciting day! Today #YOURelectricalcontractor is putting the finishing touches on his own basement! (For those of you that are lucky enough to have a tradesperson in the family, you know what a rare treat it is to have them actually do work on their own home ;) )
This project is one that is near and dear to #YOURelectricalcontractor as he is a HUGE movie buff, and by "huge", I really mean ridiculously, monstrously, crazily massive!!! His collection includes well over 2,000 movies, and an endless amount of movie memorabilia. That being said, the entire basement was designed to act as an epic movie viewing experience, with the centerpiece being a wall of built-ins to showcase said memorabilia.
If you've taken the time to scroll through our Residential Pictures, you will have seen some of the custom lighting that is in #YOURelectricalcontractor 's own basement. LED pindot lights line the staircase, LED lights with specialty vented covers line the hallway, all leading to the main movie room that showcases a custom wood veneer drop ceiling with lighting that is divided into 4 quadrants, designed to give you complete control over your movie-viewing experience. All of this is controlled by remote of course ;)
The thing is though, when your passion for lighting and design is this strong, your work is never actually "done". As #YOURelectricalcontractor "completes" this project, he is already working on updating the lighting controls. There are so many advances with lighting and home control right now, and #YOURelectricalcontractor is right on trend with these advances. Remote control of the lighting is great, but what if I told you you could program multiple "scenes" for your lighting?! If you're watching a horror flick, choose "Horror" from your smart phone or tablet and the lights will dim to an eerie 28% percent of their full capacity, just as you designed it. If you're watching a rom-com, choose "Romance" and the only the quadrant of pot lights above the tv will dim to 38%, while the rest of the pot lights completely shut off to create just the mood you're looking for. WOW, right? Well, #YOURelectricalcontractor is in the middle of obtaining the training to make this all possible, so let's just say that although the basement project should be coming to an end...well...I guess we can say it's taking a somewhat completed hiatus. ;)
Until next time ;)
